Like many parts of a home or business exterior, soffit and fascia serve both as an aesthetic and a functional purpose. Soffit is a part that can easily be damaged. They serve as insulation for your attic. Fascia on the other hand, protects your wood fascia from getting wet or rotting the word out as well. Kind of giving the wood a protection of armor.
The basic mission for soffit is to protect your rafters from the elements and to keep rodents out as well. Keeping moisture away from the rafters reduces the chance of mold and helps preserve the life of the material.
The most commonly used material for soffit and fascia is aluminum & vinyl. Not only is this the most practical, but it is also the best material when replacing wooden ones on your home.
Choosing a contrasting color to your houses siding color will create an element of interest. Matching the soffit to the house color will create a sense of balance. Selecting the same shade throughout your house’s color scheme will allow for a soothing affect.
